The Vancouver Paralympics ended today and with that The 2010 Vancouver Olympics is officially over.
Canada finished with a medal count of 19, not to bad. However, the Sledge Hockey team came in fourth. Two final second losses to Japan in the semi-final, and Norway in the bronze medal game. No three-peat for Hockey Canada.
Now it’s time to focus my attention on the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Do The Habs have a chance making out the first round?

USA ended up beating Japan and winning the gold.

Well we suffered the first setback during the playoffs today – a 3-3 tie.
Leading 3-1 in the third, the Canadians scored 2 goals with less than 2 minutes left.
I don’t know what was going on today? They didn’t look like the same team that haven’t lost a game in over 2 months. Even though it wasn’t a loss, the way they played and they way the lead was blown, it felt like a loss.
On the bright side, Jordan played an excellent game in nets, and overall the defence played well. It was the forwards who seemed sluggish.
Looking forward, I don’t think they like the feeling, and I feel they will play much better next game. It also guaranteed they’ll be playing for the championship next weekend.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been having a little bit of Winter Olympics withdrawal.
The Paralympics started on Friday and earlier today Canada played Italy in Ice Sledge Hockey. I must say I was in awe of these athletes. The speed, the shooting. Okay it’s not the Canadian men, but I was so impressed, I watched the whole game and was thoroughly entertained.
They play sweden tomorrow, but I’m at work and won’t be able to watch. I’ll definately be watching these games every chance I get.
Canada is going for a three-peat in Hockey. Women’s and Men’s Olympic gold, both victories against the USA. Now Ice Sledge Hockey.
Go Canada Go

I went to bed last night. The Leafs had already lost and the Habs were down 3-0. Price allowed all three goals in the first. Halak started the second.
I woke up this morning, like every morning, and put on Sportsdesk. To my surprise, the Habs won 4-3 in a shootout. Brian Gionta and Andrei Markov scored in the final 1:50 of regulation, and Tomas Plekanec added the shootout winner.
There’s 10 games left in March, I predict Halak will start 9. I know my predictions are always wrong. That’s why I don’t play Pro•Line.

The second game since the 2010 Olympics, and Price is starting again.
A buddy at work, who is also a Habs fan, made some good points. He told me that Price would start. His reasons – Halak did have a great Olympics, but he’s probably tired. Price hasn’t played any hockey, and will need to play, and will continue to play if he plays good.
He played a good game against Boston. The second period against San Jose just ended, and so far Price is playing a great game.
He also feels that Price will be traded in the off season. He prefers Halak over Price. I don’t, I still think he’s the future.
Yes I’m watching the game, just came in from watching “The Crazies“.

Based on Halak’s performance for Slovakia during the 2010 Olympics, will it solidify him as the number one goalie for The Habs? I love Price and see him as the future – will it be with The Habs? I do often wonder where his head is sometimes?
I’ll guarantee Halak will start on Tuesday against The Bruins. If he plays good, then runs off a few impressive starts. I think that’s it? Price will be riding the pine for the remainder of the season and will see his playing time diminished.

Things are gonna get ugly in Montreal. It could be worse though, I could of been a Leafs fan.

I love that the Canadian Woman’s Hockey team won gold yesterday, and shutting out the Americans – even better. But come on ladies this should of been done in your dressing room.

Hockey Canada apologized Thursday for an impromptu party the Olympic woman’s hockey team threw for itself on the Canada Hockey Place ice after winning the gold medal.

Game 2 was played against the Bruins. They won 6-0. All the teams that were beating them during the regular season are being handled, quite easy I might add.
They are now 2 wins and no loses and no goals against them. Jacob will be missing the next two games, as he will be cruising the Caribbean.
I’ll get Todd to send me updates via email.

Jacob had his first playoff game today. They finished the regular season, tied for 3rd, but placed 4th due to wins. The playoffs are a round robin format.
After a slow start to the season, they ended the season winning 5 and tied 2. I believe they are the most improved “team”. I’ve watched them develop so much from game 1 to game 14.
They played The Senators, whom they lost and tied during the season. Game 1 ended 11-0 for us. They were all over them. You would not believe this was the same team that lost to them early during the season.
Jacob almost scored 3 times, he was on his way towards a break-away, but was tripped, no penalty was called as they were already up 7-0.
Great job guys, let’s go all the way.
Nick makes a nice defensive play, Austin then makes a nice pass up the middle. Jacob takes the pass, he’s in the clear. The Senators are making a line change, the defense skates towards Jacob and trips him. Jacob gets up and still manages to get a shot off.
